Lucid Dream Minigolf is a traveling, existential, heartfelt, pop-up minigolf course and interactive theater. You can learn more about our project here.

We are currently hibernating for the winter (and possibly forever).

If you would like to see minigolf reawaken with a new story and courses to play, please contact us about ways to support the project and consider donating.

Basilica (Hudson)

The end is in the beginning! The 15th and final performance of our In Search of Lost Time production will be at Basilica for Soundscape Festival.

Our production of In Search of Lost Time has aimed to conjure a sense of delight and playfulness creating a storytelling experience that uses the medium of minigolf as performance theater and interactive narrative with deeper themes of shared experience, of overcoming a sense of being behind in one's life, of being lost, and resiliency.

The initial spark for In Search of Lost Time came out of creating face shields in Basilica during lockdown. From the fire and ashes of disaster grew the seeds of friendship and minigolf art. When covid first hit, Bren Liam, and friends, helped to lead efforts to make face shields for a local hospital and nursing homes in the Hudson Valley, coordinating efforts across makerspaces, sourcing material from the local library system, and turning an art center, the Basilica, into a mass assembly line. After months of making face shields, we were happy to have served but run a little ragged. We needed a mental break and wanted a creative project that was purely silly and personal. The idea of building a gonzo minigolf course was born!

We have performed In Search of Lost Time in the middle of the woods, an alleyway, bars, a library, a drive-in theater, gallery spaces, a sculpture park, and artist residencies across Hudson Valley and NYC. From Prattsville to Wassaic, Athens to Brooklyn, we have traveled for a reason. The mobile and pop-up nature of our theater company was meant to stand in contrast to the stasis and confinement of lockdown during the covid-19 pandemic. Dreams were never meant to be static. They were meant to move us, to expand, to roam.

Four years after we started minigolf post-faceshields, returning to the sight that inspired so much creative fire amidst the darkness, there couldn't be a better ending to this story.

It's been whimsical. Thanks for playing!

Play minigolf in a gallery space steps from the Hudson River. ACC is a gathering place for local arts, community happenings, classes, and imagination. Lucid Dream Minigolf is thrilled to have a 3 week exhibit at ACC 9/01-9/17.

There will be special live wizard-guided performance for the opening night of the exhibition on Friday 9/1 (5-7pm), and self-guided audio tours will be available from on Saturdays and Sundays (12pm-5:00pm).

The gallery exhibit will include a large-scale community-painted mural inspired by LDM and led by Maeve McCool and Amanda Vaughn. Come check it out and play!

The gallery exhibit includes paintings made in collaboration with artists Amanda Vaughn and Maeve McCool. Specifically, the paintings installed with the Lucid Dream Mini Golf exhibit are the result of a community art workshop led by local artists Amanda Vaughn and Maeve McCool (ACC’s Education Resident), during which artists of all ages collaborated with flowing body movements and stream of consciousness mark making to create layered works. Stemming from a sort of communal flow state and with a focus on the material at hand, the resulting marks are both energetic and gentle, flowing and static, small and expansive.

A final community art workshop will be Sun. Sept 17 AM, 10-12 pm: Drawing Dream Creatures. In this workshop we will bring a dream world to life! First, kids will get a tour of the mystical, magical world of “Lucid Dream Mini Golf”, talk about dreams and what they mean, and imagine what creatures live in our dreams. Based on the storyline of “Lucid Dream Mini Golf”, we will draw characters including the ferocious mutant swamp monster, the the Gnome of Infinity, and the Creatures of Neverhere using a variety of colorful arts supplies.
